Description

Tyrannosaurus rex

Original artist:     Monopteryx
Original lineart:   monopteryx.deviantart.com/art/…
Colouration:         Jurassic Park's Rexy

Tyrannosaurus was a bipedal carnivore with a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail. Relative to its large and powerful hind limbs, Tyrannosaurus fore limbs were short but unusually powerful for their size and had two clawed digits. The most complete specimen measures up to 12.3 m in length, up to 4 meters tall at the hips, and up to 6.8 metric tons in weight. Although other theropods rivaled or exceeded Tyrannosaurus rex in size, it is still among the largest known land predators and is estimated to have exerted the largest bite force among all terrestrial animals.

Artist's Note: Tyrannosaurus rex was likely covered in feathers. Please see this depiction also: paleocolour.deviantart.com/art…

Edit: There seems to have been some discussion in the comments about whether T. rex had feathers or not. I want to stress that this colouration is primarily to do the beautiful original lineart some justice. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that  T. rex indeed had feathers of some variety on its body.

I coloured this scaled T. rex in the theme of Jurassic Park's Rexy to attempt to turn it into a sort of "fan art" of this fantasy monster as opposed to attempting to depict a real creature. Again, this is not an especially accurate depiction of a real T. rex, but it is an accurate depiction of the Jurassic Park T. rex monster.
